New!

So I did it. I online shopped for Pyrex.

Thank you, shopgoodwill.com

(Autumn Harvest is one of my favorites!) Now I need to find the #404...

The local thrift stores have been pretty great to me lately, too.

The pink gooseberry (99c) went home with my momma. She likes pink. I kept the mushrooms (99c) though!

The berries ($3) and salad bowl ($5) are new finds, too!

Adorable orange fridgie (99c) and woodland butter dish ($2).

Have I mentioned I also collect random vintage plates? They have been piled on my dresser until recently.

Happy Saturday, lovelies! Stay sweet - orange rolls are being enjoyed here. ;)

Cooking with Pyrex!

We had some sweet friends over last night and grilled some burgers and brats. Yes, there was Pyrex involved. (I knew you'd like to see!)

Bear making his delicious guacamole!

Mmmm, guac!

I became bored while waiting for the guac to be made. Want to see my sweet teal Lux kitchen timer?

What about my new state cup (50c at a thrift store!) and head vase ($1 - and a present for my momma!)

Or my growing Pyrex collection?

BEAR SAYS NO MORE PEEEEKTURES.

Salad and cucumbers.

Guac and salsa!

Good eats, good times. Happy weekend, everyone!

101 Casseroles: Main-Dish Pie

As I've mentioned, I live with three boys. Which means I cook the most. You know what's fast and easy to cook? CASSEROLES. And last weekend I was thrifting with my darling dear and he found these gems! "I think you should get these and cook for me," he said ever-so-sweetly. Alright, alright.

So I cooked. Tonight we went with the "Main-Dish Pie." Super easy, and pretty delicious, too!

And no...that's not Pyrex. I don't have a deep-dish Pyrex pie pan. (Is that even a real thing?!) This is a sweet Fireking my dad bought for me at a garage sale awhile back - my dad's great like that. I love it because the base is orange and it fades to a bright red. See!

Overall, my latino approved - two thumbs up! Here's the recipe if you feel like trying it out (we added corn because, hey, why not?)

Now it's movie and relaxing time. Happy Thursday, everyone!

Flameware & Mocha Cupcakes

Warning: This post is slightly random and very picture-heavy. You've been warned.

So this morning I woke up at 7am (on a Saturday!) to go to garage sales, an estate sale, and an auction with my daddy-o.

The auction promised vintage pyrex, but I didn't see any until...

WOAH FLAMEWARE. And yes, that orange box is a BRAND NEW teapot. And for $12, my brand new teapot!

For another $12 I scored this double boiler and saucepan.

Randomly, at another garage sale, my mom found the 6-cup percolator for 50 cents! It's missing the stem, but still a great price! (The 4-cup I already had!)

Just when I was beginning to lose faith in all garage sales, I found these gems for $5:

I've been wanting a set of Pyrex canisters for awhile now, but all I could seem to find was the vegetable print, which isn't really my style. I love this print though! (Anyone know what it's called?)

Now, off the topic of Pyrex...

Father's day is right around the corner. What do you get a dad who has everything he wants? Oh, that's right. Cupcakes!

For my coffee-obsessed dad, mocha cupcakes - made with love. Oh, and lots and lots of sugar.

It's like heaven in the form of cake.

And now as I unwind from my day on my patio, watching the evening storm roll in...

Look how big my celosia is growing! I'm so proud it's still alive. (My thumb is not green at all.)

And my amigo-mix coxcomb is thriving, too!

Cheers! Happy Saturday, everyone!

Retro Finds

Not only do I have a slight obsession with Pyrex, I'm also in love with retro/midcentury furniture. It's posed quite a problem...until I moved into my own house! Now I have all this rooooom for my retro finds.

Okay, so, it's not my own house - I live with 3 boys. But we've all agreed that the garage will not be for parking in - it's too much of a bother when you have so many people/cars. Instead of arguing about who gets to park inside, we've decided to make the garage another hang-out space (and since 3 of us smoke, a warm place to smoke in the winter!)

So that means...more furniture to feed my frenzy.

My dad called me yesterday when he spotted this guy at a local thrift store. Glorious! I had to have it.

$25 for this beauty - in excellent condition! And you know what I love most about vintage couches? They're so loooooong! Here's a closer look at the lovely print:

This chair I already had...two of them, actually. They came with the house my parents bought a few years ago, and it was love at first sight.

Who can resist that golden charm? They will be joining the couch in the retro lounge garage space.

This next find is a little off-topic, but I just had to share my love for it. I stopped at a garage sale before work today and found this vintage tablecloth for a quarter. I LOVE IT. Lime houndstooth paired with periwinkle fruits?! Yes and yes.

Hope everyone else is having a terrrrrific Thursday!

Sometimes, You Just Have To Bake

And that's precisely what I did tonight.

(in my #475 Saxony)

Happy Wednesday, folks!

Thriftin' Tuesday

I had an hour or so to spare before work this morning so, naturally, I went thrifting!

I found this b-e-a-utiful pink desert dawn piece for $2 and happily bought it. It's my first desert dawn Pyrex and I'm pretty excited about it. I also found this little #401 yellow bowl for $2.

And now it's necessary winding-down wine time on my new patio.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Good Morning, Good Morning!

I love Sundays.

Sleeping in, morning coffee, movies with my darling dear. Oh, and it's the only day of the week I make breakfast - using Pyrex, of course.

Oh, and I just moved - so be prepared for some random pictures of my new kitchen!

Today's menu: eggs, bagels, (and since my darling dear is Latino) chorizo!

Little fridgie holds the scubber!

Maroushka doll measuring cups and Ball jar lamp.

My favorite object - lime green Kitchenaid!

Small verde bowl holds the coffee filters!

Morning coffee out of my yellow Pyrex mug. (You can also see the burnt bagels in the background...go me!)

All done! Happy Sunday, everyone!

Pyrex-less

Hello all! I haven't been blogging much lately because I'm moving! What fun it shall be living with three guys - boyfriend, brother, brother's bestie. Ohh my!

I've been thrifting/garage sale-ing a lot to fill my new house with furniture, but I haven't picked up much Pyrex lately. How sad. I did find this b-e-a-utiful HUGE casserole dish today - but $22? No thank you. But, oh, how sweet it is. I want a piece this size - it would be great for big family dinners!

Now back to unpacking - hope everyone else is having more Pyrex luck than I! :)
